Cortney is skilled at working with children (8 and older), teens and adults for issues including autism, anxiety and depression, ADHD, grief and loss, faith crisis, life transitions, trauma, self-worth, and family and relationship conflicts. She has experience working with special needs youth and adults on a variety of topics.
She creates a safe, judgment-free space where she helps people process their challenges and discover the tools necessary to heal and move forward. Cortney uses a person-centered approach and focuses on people’s strengths and abilities for growth and change. She incorporates mindfulness and grounding techniques which can provide relief from anxiety, stress, trauma, and depression, as well as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).
When working with children and adolescents Cortney uses art, stories, games, and toys to communicate thoughts and emotions, and process their own experiences. She provides education and skills to people that can be incorporated in their lives and their homes, and engages frequently with the parents/guardians to encourage participation in their child’s treatment.
